Mary Orrom – a little retrospective
April 2009

This exhibition celebrates the work of Mary Orrom, one of Buckinghamshire’s most distinguished and best-loved artists. Renowned throughout the county, her work has also been widely shown both nationally and internationally. Her sculpture uses a remarkable variety of means and materials to explore our physical and emotional relationship with the natural world and to interrogate the interdependence of all living things.
Mary Orrom has done a huge amount to promote the work of other artists in this area, not least with her activities concerning The Visual Images Group (Bucks Art Weeks), of which she was one of the first to take part. Mary has opened up her studio and garden each year to hundreds of visitors for Open Studios since then, and this has helped Great Missenden to be one the most important areas to visit during this time.
Mary has taught sculpture both At Missenden Abbey and at home in her own studio, where she has generously passed on many of her skills to her students.

Second-hand Book Sale

One Church Street is now selling selling second hand art, photography, gardening, architecture, 'how to' and design books. There is also a large choice of past exhibition catalogues and books. Many of these books and catalogues are like new and mostly cost half price or less. There are also books which are now out of print that are rare and valuable. We now have over 350 titles to choose from. If you would like to come and browse or bring your own books to sell we would be delighted to see you. We take a commission on the sale of books to fund our exhibitions.
While you are browsing, there is coffee on the go for a small donation.
